Join Nokia's photography team in New Zealand

Nokia and Burton started a low light photography competition.
Being a passionate mobile photographer, I entered of course :)

The 50 finalists get a chance to try a Lumia 925, while the winner gets an all expenses paid trip to New Zealand!

If you consider entering that contest too, you can find the details here:
Rock the world with Lumia 925 low light photography for Nokia and Burton

I entered that competition with an older photo I took last autumn.

Herbstmesse Basel
I already shared it here a while ago, it was taken at the autumn festival (Herbstmesse) in Basel, using my Nokia 808 PureView.

You can help me to win (or at least don't make a complete fool out of myself by dropping out without any votes), by supporting my picture with a simple click on a single button!

Follow the link here, to visit the page of my photo.

Vote for my photo by pressing "Support Daniel"
You'll need a Facebook account to vote, but I assume that most of you have one :)
Voting officially starts by July 11, 2013. You can click the button now and you will get a simple email (or Facebook?) reminder, as soon as voting is available.

I would really appreciate your support!
So if you can spare the few seconds it takes to vote for me, please do it. And if you have a couple more seconds, hit the sharing buttons (Twitter/Facebook) and let your friends vote too ;)

FC Basel 1893 Champion 2013

I recently shared a comparison between the 808's "Creative Mode" vs "Automatic Mode" in low light from the FC Basels' Championship party.

You can find the original post here:
PureView “Creative” vs “Auto” Settings (low light)

Here are some more pictures from the same night. No comparison, just a few low light photos I took on my Nokia 808 PureView ;)

Photography: 808 vs N8 vs 920 vs 820 Part III

I recently went outside equipped with the Nokia 808 PureView, the Nokia N8, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 to take a few pictures for a short camera comparison.

For easier publishing and more convenient reading on your side, I decided to release the result in multiple posts.

In case you missed the first two parts of this comparison, you can find it here (Part I) and here (Part II).
Read on, to see the next picture of my comparison ;)

The One Reloaded v4.0.6 (for Testers!)

As mentioned, v4.x of my new 808 custom firmware is currently in progress.
v4.0.6 is not the final version as I want it to be, but it is  a start.

If you are interested in the progress so far or even in helping me test v4.x, please read on...

The One Reloaded v4.x in progress

The last update of my Nokia 808 PureView custom firmware, version 3.4.0, is dated 18.12.2012.

The longest period without a CFW update since I got my 808, is coming to an end ;)

I started working on v4.x.
v4.x will be based on the latest Belle FP2 version 113.010.1508.

The first step for now is, to bring .1508 to the point where my .1507 already is.
After I have a stable and fully working base, I will add some new widgets and the OTA updates.
I haven't checked for new mods/updated mods yet, but I will take a look at "whats new" in the modding scene for sure!

Suggestions and wishes for the upcoming version are welcome!
Just drop a comment below ;)

Beat the Pink out of the N8!

How much damage can the Nokia N8-00 take?

Looks like my sister asked herself the same question, probably more than once :)

About a year ago, I patched her pink Nokia N8 up with some replacement parts I got from Leno.
Leno sent me a some parts to repair my own N8. Which I used to create an exclusive green/black Nokia N8 (documented here) and a pink/silver N8 for my sister.

Meanwhile, her N8 took quite a beating from several (unintentional) drop tests...
Continue to see a few pictures of a two years old pink Nokia N8.

PureView “Creative” vs “Auto” Settings (low light)

Saturday, 01.06.2012
My favourite football club "FC Basel 1893" won the Swiss championship!
I took lots of pictures at the huge party that went on all night long.

While my first few pictures with "Automatic" settings weren't that great, adjusting the "Creative" settings in the 808's camera interface made a real difference.

Here are a few low light pictures and tips and tricks, based on my experience last Saturday.
