Photography: 808 vs N8 vs 920 vs 820 Part II

I recently went outside equipped with the Nokia 808 PureView, the Nokia N8, the Nokia Lumia 920 and the Nokia Lumia 820 to take a few pictures for a short camera comparison.

For easier publishing and more convenient reading on your side, I decided to release the result in multiple posts.

In case you missed the first part of this comparison, you can find it here.
Read on, to see the second picture of my comparison ;)

Macro Mode

The second picture of my comparison, is also shot in macro mode.
So let's see how it goes this time, with a different subject...

Nokia 808 PureView
8 MP (16:9), Close-Up (Macro), everything else set to automatic.

Nokia Lumia 920
Close-Up (Macro) mode was active, everything else set to automatic.

Nokia Lumia 820
Nokia N8
The Nokia N8 stands out because of its 12MP (4:3) resolution. The focus mode was changed to Close-Up (Macro), other settings are set to automatic.
Nokia N8
Unlike the first comparison, I used automatic settings for all phones.
Only the focus mode was changed to "macro", which makes it easier to compare this time.

Cropped

Here I cropped an area of 640*360 out of the photo's, so you can see some of the detail.

Summary

You may wonder, why I picked this particular subject. The reason is very simple, it is boring! :)
Unlike in "Part I" (with the subjective pretty flowers), it is easy to focus on the camera quality only in this example.

When it comes to colours and contrast, the Nokia 808 did the best job to reflect the real scene.
That's not surprising given it's ability to use 41 megapixel for oversampling.
While the Nokia N8 comes very close to the 808 in terms of colours and contrast, it actually offers much more details.

Competing against the two best camera phones in the world, the Lumia's don't do so well here.
But in all fairness, the lower priced Lumia 820 is allowed to do much worse and the Lumia 920's result isn't bad at all...

In my opinion, the Nokia N8 delivered the best result in this comparison and definitely showed its strength in Macro-Mode.

I'd like to hear your opinion about the sample photos here.
Feedback/critics about my comparison is welcome too of course ;)

Part III is coming soon...
