I am starting a poll on my blog, so you can vote for your prefered Nokia Maps version for my next final CFW.
The version for full translations will come without maps, so you can install them in your language.
This vote is for the english version!
Edit:
Remember that I can put most parts of the maps apps into rofs (z:\), so it doesn't consume any space on c:\!
If you install/update them on your own, they will be put into c:\
Btw. the poll will end at the evening of this Thursday.
Edit 2:
sorry guys, the first few votes got deleted!
i was updating the blog, had some connection errors and the poll was gone... :(
i created a new one... to the 10 people who voted so far, please vote again:)
I recommend keeping them in c:\ drive only. If you keep them in z, during upgrade you will end up with two versions finally installed in the phone memory taking twice as much space.
ReplyDeleteIf they are in c, then when someone updates it, which they will.... files will be automatically replaced. Maps doesn't make sense to be in Z IMO.
Hi Saurav
Deletecan you give me more details about this?
in my experience, when you add the maps to z:\ and have all registry files correctly on c:\, you will be able to upgrade without any downside...
i tested this only from maps 3.07 to maps 3.08... probably the new maps suite is different, thats why i need more informations about this.
so if u integrate maps in z:\ drive, it will still take some space in phone. If you install it on c:\drive then whenever people update it will only replace files in c:.
Deletethis way, you won't be taking hard disk space at two places. You can use that space reduction to give something else.
I think the newer version no?
ReplyDeletei agree with saurav

ReplyDeleteI suggest which ever takes less memory.. 3.08 has a notorious reputation of residing in the memory even after existing from the application. So if feasible I would prefer 3.06 (even if it is not as sofesticated, it is not a monster :)) thank you for all the efforts..
ReplyDeletei won't consider that...
Deletefor me its just the decision wheter to go for the latest final or the latest beta.
and i wanted to give you the chance for "no maps at all".
but outdated versions don't make sense to me.
thanks anyway for your suggestion, i am always happy to get some feedback!
you should always go with latest stable build
DeletePls release a version without maps.. Let the users decide what they want.. Thank you for your hard work
ReplyDeleteyou should always go with latest stable build i think and less memory.
ReplyDeleteThis is the best CFW for Belle, The 4xxx I now is gonna be the bomb!
i USE A LOT OF THE MAPS, navigation thing. so i go with the latest and stable.
