This version comes with ~230MB (no maps)/~222MB (maps preinstalled) free space on c:\.

I updated the "Description", "How to flash" & "Tools" section on my blog, so everything you need should be there.

I hope you enjoy my latest CFW, I am looking forward to hear some feedback from you;)

I will send Nekeule the files for the full translations today, so translated version will come later... please be patient, I let you know when they are ready.

  4. The MODS:

    File Browser 1.0 and Memcheck
What its for and its good?

Do i have to put it in C/ then Install it?

    1. memcheck gives you informations about free space on c/e/d & free ram.

file browser is a 3rd party filebrowser that gives you full access to c:\ (default filebrowser only let you see c:\data\).
(for full read and write access you also need rompatcher (activated open4all patch))

  5. thanks man this is a great release:).In the future release, could you add a metadata editor so that we can edit mp3 tags, and file names in the music player?
Also i still wonder why nokia put a better search option when selecting your ringing tone or message tone. That would be great if it could be inserted in music player also.
    Thanks again The One!

    1. agree... selecting ringtones is a pain in the ass, nothing i can do about it.

metadata editor for s^3 was released by coderus, it is not compatible to belle anymore. otherwise it would be already integrated. maybe you can find an application for that (there are lots of music players for symbian, someone must have this feature integrated)

sorry, seems like i have just bad news for you...

      Delete
    2. Sorry,i don't think you understood what i meant to say with the search option. When selecting ringtones or message tones it's very easy because you can search for it like in nokia n95 8gb's music player but when it comes to search for a song in n8 music player you have to slide through 1500 songs(in my case). It would be great if someone could copy that search feature from ringtone selection or n95's music player and somehow implement it in n8 music player. In the lcg jukebox app there is this option to search in the playlist but if you use it it crashes.

      Delete
    3. So copying that will be a deep code level thing and will need changes to core Symbian OS. It is better to make a music player app instead.

      Delete
    4. you are right, i got it wrong...
sadly i still don't have good news for you.

as long as there is no search plugin for the music player, i cannot create it.
we don't have the sources to make such changes in symbian...

and as saurav said, it would be easier to create a new music player app instead of using some kind of reverse engeneering to crack that code.

  6. Hello The one! I'm using your new mod and it looks really fast! But I've been having some trouble with the Wi-Fi connection, it disconnect for no apparent reason. I don't know if anyone else is having this issue?

    2. I tried it but still it disconnects... I found somethig funny, when checking the log on the phone the disconnection always happens at 1 min and 3 sec... Its weird...?

    3. no wlan issues here (if power saving mode disabled).
do you have this issue in all apps?
what happens if you connect the wlan manually (and do nothing)?
      any details/specs about your wlan?
also try to disable mobile data while using wlan (just for testing)...

    4. Hello The one, first of all thank you for the follow up.
Its curious because it happens even if there are no apps running, the phone will just disconnect. Once connected it works fine, but I have to connect it mannually, but also after 1:03 it disconnects... Is there any commands for Wifi on the sys folder on c:\ ? I tell you this because I also tried to install a widget for the gallery ported from the 808 and it needed to copy and paste a sys folder on c:\ I have tried the hard reset and refurbishing the one 4.1.0 but still the connection problem reappears... I can't tell pin point what was first, the disconnection issue or the widget thing, but I wonder if they are related??? Thanks again!... Sorry I wrote below, I clicked wrong... ;)

    5. you have my attention on this, can you give me more informations?

here is an example of what i like to know, based on my own configuration:

      WLAN:
      SSID hidden
      Infrastructur Mode
      WPA/WPA2 encryption
      MAC filter on
      IEEE 802.11n
      WDS (2 access points)

      Phone
      Signal Quality "Strong (100%)"
      Power Saving "disabled"
Static Values for IP, Subnet, Gateway, DNS ("DHCP" off)
      Mobile Data connections are stable

Did you ever had problems on your previous firmware?
If no, what version did you use?
Any chance you can test it on a different access point?
Maybe you can find something in the log of your router?

I understand that the average user may not know all about those settings, just let me know what you can find out;)

Btw. I also noted that Belle seems to have issues with some wlan connections, disable the power save mode gave me much more stability...

You can also try to clean up your mem card/mass memory and reflash again (no reset AFTER flashing!)

    6. Hello the one!... I truly and honestly owe you a heart felt apology... since I'm new in the symbian ambient, I didn't realize that though the signal waves don't have a lock, it still can connect to internet even if it seems like its not. The hole thing was just an ignorant's question. I'm truly sorry, your mod works perfectly!!! thanks for all the hours you put in these mods. Greetings form LA!!

  10. Hey The_One...
I've been having a peculiar problem for quiet some time.
If i use my phone without switching off for about 2 days or so, my phone's vibrator does not respond at all! Restarting the phone, switching off vibrate alert form profiles and then switching on screen touch vibrator, is the only solution i found to get it back to respond normal again. Is this my device's problem, else a belle bug?
Eagerly waiting for your response...( I'm running on 4.1.0 no maps)
    Thank you.

did you do a clean installation (cleaned up mass memory/mem card and used refurbish)?

      anybody else with that problem?

sorry, can't tell you where this is coming from...

  11. Hi The_One!

I just rcvd my new 808, it worked fine for 3 days, then the screen froze. Had to remove batt, then turn back on and screen remains off or black. But the phone vibrates when turned on and the PC sounds when I plug it via USB cable. Since Navifirm has been blocked by Nokia, I downloaded the firmware (4Gb) from mrcrab.net. When trying to do a "dead phone flashing" with Phoenix, I get the message "Currently selected data-package retrieving failed: 0x840E0818(-2079455208) - Framework: The digital signature verification failed because the signature file could not be found". So I don't know if there is a file missing or some files are corrupted. Do you happen to know of any other place from where to download the original Nokia firmware? Thanks in advance for you help.

    1. Does the 808 still run official firmware? If so, just return it for repair.

Are you using UMTS or HSDPA (3G / 3.5G)? There is a known problem in many 808s that causes instability when you use 3G during bad reception.

    2. Hi Hobbit! Yes, the 808 has its original firmware: PRODUCT CODE 059P6W4 Black from UK. I bought it from a third party reseller thru Amazon. It has no US warranty. Besides that, I don't live in the USA. And yes, I was using HSDPA and GPS while driving from one city to another. Many spots with weak or no signal at all. But before migrating to microSIM, I downloaded all the software updates using wifi. Probably the fix for the issue you mention was included on the updates.

    3. Hi Carlos,

      http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/flow/item/16255_Nokia_808_35G_connection_issue.php

and Nokia did address this bug in a recent firmware patch, but not everyone has success:

Too bad you already mangled with firmware from an unreliable source. From what I read, the phone should boot again if you remove the battery for a while.

Did you try removing the battery, or hard reset of the phone:

      good luck!

    4. Hi Carlos,

You can get the original firmware you need with this tool:
      http://forum.dailymobile.net/index.php?topic=94403.0

you can also wait for the updated Navifirm+ by Il.Socio ("http://www.symbian-toys.com/navifirm.aspx").

In case you really have the 3G bug on your device, this could be interesting for you.

    5. Hi Hobbit and TheOne. Thanks for your guidelines.
I don't think my phone suffers from the 3.5G bug, otherwise it would respond to hard reset or to dead phone flashing. When trying the deadphone flashing procedure. Got an error pop up windows that says "Flash Boot rom was not detected after phone boot up. Unable to start flashing". Phoenix's output log says
      "Flashing started
      Creating product data items list
      Product data items list created
      Backup not required
      Flashing phone
      Initializing

      Waiting for USB device...
ERROR: Failed to set phone to flashmode

      Scanning image files...
      Waiting for USB device...
ERROR: Failed to set phone to flashmode

      Product flashing aborted".
At this time I'm lost and don't know what to do. I read on one of the posts there is a faulting capacitor that has to be replaced. Don't know if Nokia Venezuela would be able to do that repair or honor the warranty...

      Delete
    6. Hi,

The faulty capacitor is for the 3G bug. Your problem seems to be that Windows does not load the correct driver for USB communication. Which version of Phoenix do you use? (2011 is advised)

Furthermore, uninstall all USB references in device manager. Google for "show disconnected devices", uninstall all devices that could be your Nokia. Then Windows should ask for the driver again.

    7. @carlos
sorry, yes you are right. the 3.5g bug, whether you have it or not, has nothing to do with the flashing process.

what version of phoenix do you use?

      @Hobbit13
I really appreciate you helping out here so much!
      Thanks a lot ;)
